The OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Information Technology is a UK-recognised qualification at Level 5 that strengthens your technical and professional IT expertise across systems, networks, programming, and digital services. This extended diploma is equivalent to the second year of a UK bachelor’s degree or HND Degree stage, making it a powerful foundation for further study or career progression. You will build practical skills in software, database management, web technologies, and project work that align with industry needs. Accreditation
The Level 5 Extended Diploma in Information Technology is accredited by OTHM, an Ofqual-regulated awarding body.
Entry requirements
Applicants normally hold a Level 4 IT qualification or relevant experience. English language evidence may be required.
Equivalences
Equivalent to the second year of a UK bachelor’s degree or the HND Degree.

• 12 Mandatory units
• 240 credits
• TQT: 2400 hours
• GLH: 1200 hours
Duration and delivery
Designed for completion over two academic years full‑time, with flexible options at our college.

Assessment is through coursework and practical assignments, internally marked and externally verified.

Requirements
- Age Typically aged 18 and above
- Relevant Level 3 Diploma or equivalent qualification, OR
- GCE Advanced level in 2 subjects or equivalent qualification, OR
- Mature learners (over 21) with relevant management experience (learners must check with the delivery centre regarding this experience prior to registering for the programme)
